Chilli is just one of those meals. It’s delicious, crowd pleasing, easy to prepare, and somehow works in every type of weather. And though the tried-and-true combination of chilli and rice doesn’t need fixing, it can still be nice to mix things up a bit sometimes. Just for fun.
So in that spirit, here are 4 alternative ways to serve chilli. No rice required.
Chilli soup (with gluten free bread)
Since chilli is already basically a stew, it’s not a huge leap to serve it up as a soup. Leave it chunky or use an immersion blender to purée until smooth. Serve with your favourite gluten free bread and there you go. Chill soup!
Nachos
This one’s so obvious it’s almost cheating. But it’s worth mentioning anyway! Simply serve your chilli over some gluten free tortilla chips. Top with guacamole, sour cream, and salsa, snd you’ve got a lovely comfort food party dish. Great for film nights.
Chilli pasta
Perhaps a bit controversial, but we’re all about combining the classics. In a certain sense (though some of you might have to forgive us for saying this…) chilli isn’t a million miles away from a Bolognese sauce — at least in texture. So why not serve it with some gluten free spaghetti or penne? If you haven’t tried it before then please, take our word for it. It’s a match made in heaven.
Chilli with cornbread
This one’s also slightly cheating, because for lots of people cornbread and chilli are an inseparable combination. But, as far as we’re aware, this isn’t something that’s caught on too much in the UK, so we think it’s worth mentioning. Also, one of the best things about cornbread is that it’s very easy to make it entirely gluten free. So this is a real win-win. Cornbread actually goes really well on the side of chilli and rice, but we think it also works wonderfully on its own (that way you can eat more of it, which you’ll probably want to do…).
Get your chilli on
Chips, pasta, bread, or rice. However you like your chilli is fine by us. But if you haven’t already, then we’d love it if you gave our Chilli Con Carne Recipe Mix a go. All it needs is some water, chopped tomatoes, and kidney beans and you’re good to go!
