At the time of writing, it’s coming up to the May Day bank holiday. That means an extra-long weekend, with more time to relax, spend time with friends and family and, importantly, eat. And, really, when we say “eat” what we really mean is “eat cake”.

But of course, cakes aren’t just for bank holidays. They’re for anything and everything. But since May Day is approaching we’ll use that as our excuse to share some deliciously indulgent gluten-free cake recipes. Happy baking!

  • Gluten Free Vegan Banana Bread by Nora Cooks — ok, we’re starting the list with a controversial entry. Yes, you could say this is bread, not cake. But whatever it is, when it comes out of the oven it’s amazing, and that’s good enough for us.
  • Orange Olive Oil Cake by BBC Good Food — if there was an award for most unappetising name, this one would be a contender. But let’s not judge a book by its title. This cake has received plenty of five star reviews. In fact, one reviewer went as far as describing it as “incredible”…
  • Gluten Free Twix Cheesecake by The Gluten Free Blogger — it’s a Twix-flavoured cheesecake. Do we need to say more?
  • The Very Best Gluten Free Vanilla Cake by Gluten Free on a Shoestring — when a gluten-free cake has the words “very best” in its title, how can you not try it?
  • Easy Gluten-Free Chocolate Cake by Gluten-Free Palette —  a simple gluten-free chocolate cake recipe that takes only 15 minutes to prepare. This is a great go-to recipe when you’re looking for a simple crowd-pleaser.
  • The Ultimate Gluten Free Chocolate Cake by The Loopy Whisk — what would this list be if it didn’t contain at least two different chocolate cake recipes? This one is a little bit more time-consuming than the last, but what do you expect from the “ultimate” gluten-free chocolate cake? And it has plenty of wonderful reviews to back up its claim.
  • Gluten-Free Lemon Drizzle Cake by BBC Good Food — Lemon cakes are so wonderful for the spring and summer time when the sun is shining and the birds are singing. It’s always a good recipe to have on-hand, and with 193 five-star ratings, you may be hard-pressed to do better than the this one.
  • The Very Best Gluten Free Vanilla Cake by Gluten Free on a Shoestring — sometimes a simple vanilla cake is all you need. It’s a crowd-pleasing, light, and delicious dessert to bring out on special occasions.
  • Gluten-Free Carrot Cake by Jamie Oliver — because everybody needs a carrot cake recipe up their sleeve. And no one should have to miss out on this classic baked delight!
  • Raw Chocolate Cake by Jamie Oliver — there’s no denying it: this one’s for those occasions when you’re feeling extra indulgent. This rich, luxuriously intense no-bake cake is a must-try for chocolate lovers!
